Ray Cyr Jr. is considered one of the top bowlers in the area. In the Thursday night Classic League at Pin-O-Rama in Utica, he carries a 227 average. On Tuesdays in the PBA Experience League at Bowl Mor Lanes in Syracuse, he has a 200 average.  He’s rolled — count them — 57 perfect games and 25 800 series. His top series of all time is 852.

Cyr, of New Hartford, maintained his high level of bowling with wins over Tim Becker and 2000 champion Dean Distin. Cyr leads the tournament with a 233.6 average and he has won his matches by an average of 102 pins.

 Adams (229.1), looking to redeem himself from a 0-2 match play finish last year, defeated Don Towsley and Chris Leonard to remain unbeaten. He will meet Burnet when double-elimination match play resumes 11:30 a.m. today at Lakeview Bowling Center in Liverpool.

Ray Cyr Jr. was named the 2008-2009 Utica Bowling Association Scratch Bowler of the Year. Ray had the high average in the city at 243 and the high series with 835. This is the highest sanctioned season average ever in Utica.

In a battle between two mid-state right-handers, Ray Cyr Jr. of Utica out-scored Kevin Ashby of Auburn, 252-232 , in the title match of the 15th annual New York State Masters Tournament. The event was held at Ideal Lanes in Endicott over the March 29 & 30 weekend.
